Notes
[The pattern of variation within this aggregate species must be further studied before the West African taxa can be properly delineated. From the material cited above Adam 14563 stands out as having a dark achene with bristles as long as both achene and style-base together and shows other features of R. africana Cherm. The highland specimens from Nigeria and the W. Cameroon have 5–6 bristles shorter than the achene and may belong to the Australian taxon R. brownii Roem. & Schult.]
