Notes
Four specimens from Zimbabwe have the standards finely pubescent, thus resembling some specimens named Rhynchosia longiflora Schinz and Rhynchosia totta var. grandiflora H. Bolus. Although this is often an important character in the genus, in this case the character seems to appear randomly and infrequently. The specimens concerned are R.M. Davies 1378 (W: Insiza, fl. v.1955), Drummond 6019 (S: 16 km north of Beitbridge, fl. 25.iii.1959) and Wild 5354 (S: Beitbridge, Chikwarakwara, fl. & fr. 23.ii.1961). O.B. Miller 2893 (W: Matobo, Farm Besna Kobila, fl. & fr. vi.1955) has shorter more ovate leaves and the indumentum is only perceptible on some flowers.
