Shrublet up to 90 cm. tall, with the young parts scrofulous, the oldest glabrous and greyish; branchlets brownish-red. Petiole 1–4 cm. long, dorsally convex, flat or slightly canaliculate above. Leaflets concolorous, sessile, linear or linear-lanceolate, with the margin entire or slightly undulate, acute and mucronate at the apex, sometimes falcate, narrowed towards the base, very coriaceous, the median one 5–13 × 0·3–0·6 cm., the lateral ones as long as the median or shorter; midrib slender, raised on both surfaces, lateral nerves very branched, fairly prominent on both sides. Panicle very lax, with divaricate scrofulous branches; pedicels 2·5–4 mm. long. Female flowers: calyx segments c. 0·75 mm. long, ovate, obtuse, scrofulous; petals c. 1·5 mm., oblong; styles 0·5 mm. long, deflexed; stigmas subcapitate; disk patelliform, shallowly 5-lobulate. Drupe shining, 3–4 mm. in diam., sub-globose, glabrous.
