Restio multicurvus N. E. Brown [family RESTIONACEAE]
Information
plant about 3/4–1 ft. high; stems cæspitose, slender, branching at the base, irregularly much curved backwards and forwards, ochreous, smooth, not shining; sheaths 3–5 lin. long, closely convolute in the lower half, ending in a rigid subulate subpungent point about as long as the sheathing part, dark brown; male spikelets terminal, solitary or occasionally 2 together, 2 1/2–3 lin. long, lanceolate, about equally acute at both ends, dark brown; bracts 2 lin. long, 3/4 lin. broad, boat-shaped, shortly mucronate, straw-coloured in the lower half, dark brown at the apex, with slightly paler margins; perianth-segments submembranous, straw-coloured; outer lateral segments 1 1/2 lin. long, densely ciliate with brown hairs on the keel; inner segments 1 1/4 lin. long, oblong, obtuse; anthers narrowly oblong, apiculate; female spikelets not seen. null
Distribution
COAST REGION Riversdale Div.; on the mountain sides of Garcias Pass, 1000 ft., Galpin, 4785!
Notes
Allied to R. curviramis, Kunth, but easily distinguished by its usually solitary (not racemose) spikelets and much more curved stems. The internodes are often curved nearly into a semicircle.
