Information
Plants (8-)15-50 cm. high. Corms 1.2-1.5 cm. diameter, the tunics pale, usually membranous. Foliage leaves several, mostly basal, and reaching to ± the base of the spike, sometimes shortly exceeding the stems, narrowly lanceolate, 8-15 mm. wide, blades plane with lightly raised margins and midrib, cauline leaves progressively reduced in size above. Stem simple or with 1-3 branches. spike (2-)4-12 or more-flowered; bracts 8-12 mm. long, green or somewhat membranous to dry apically, the inner ± 2/3 as long as the outer. Flowers pink to purple; perianth-tube 2-3 cm. long, narrowly cylindric; tepals unequal, the dorsal 1-1.2 cm. long, arched over the stamens, the lower 8-11 mm. long, narrower than the dorsal, streaked darker pink in the midline. Filaments 5-6 mm. long, exserted ± 3 mm. from the tube; anthers 3-5 mm. long. Style dividing opposite or beyond the anthers, the branches filiform. Capsules globose, 4-5 mm. long. Fig. 11/4-7.

Notes
S. Carter united the four SPECIES of Radinosiphon recognized by N.E. Brown under R. leptostachya. This seems advisable as there seem to be no major morphological differences between populations that merit SPECIES separation. Different populations do, however, maintain their differences in overall robustness and perianth size, tube length, and tepal width in cultivation, indicating that there is a genetic basis to some of the variation.
