Information
glabrous; stolons long, stout, clothed by distant scales 1 1/4 in. long; stem solitary, 4–20 in. long, triquetrous at the top; leaves all near the base of the stem, often 12 by 1/4 in.; umbel 3–4 in. in diam., or contracted to 1 compound head; bracts 3–4, lowest 3–8 in. long, similar to the leaves; spikelets 3–9 together, spicate, ebracteate, 1/2 by 1/6 in., much compressed, 18-nutted, brown, or chestnut-brown; glumes ovate boat-shaped, obtuse; style-branches 2; nut small, obovoid, 1/4– 1/3 the length of the glume, dark-brown, superficial cells round-hexagonal. null
