Information
Rhizome woody, erect or shortly creeping with linear subentire to lacerate scales up to 5 mm long with a dark central stripe and pale margins. Fronds tufted, 0.6–1.5 m tall. Stipe straw-coloured, darker at the base, 30–90 cm long. Lamina oblong to ovate in outline, pinnate-pinnatifid above with 2–4 pairs of pinnae and a basal pair of pinnae with a basiscopic pinnule from near base. Pinnae oblong to oblong-lanceolate in outline, 10–25 cm long, 2.5–7 cm wide; ultimate lobes in 12–26 pairs, 0.3–4 cm long, 3–10 mm wide, narrowly oblong, obtuse to acute, slightly falcate, rarely forked, glabrous, the sterile margin crenate-serrate; apical segment narrowly lanceolate, 3.5–9 cm long, 5–10 mm wide at base, crenulate beyond the sori; costae and sometimes costulae spinulose beneath; veins only anastomosing along the costa to form narrow areoles.
