Rhizome scales dark brown. Leaf-blade oblong-acuminate, 2–3-pinnate-pinnatifid, 12–25(–40) x 6–10(–18) cm, dark green above, covered with whitish powder beneath; petiole about half as long as leaf-blade, reddish brown, glabrous or with ± few scales below. Sori c. 1 mm in diam., pale brown, closely set along the margins of the pinna segments.

N2 widespread in tropical Africa, Arabian Peninsula, tropical Asia.

Notes
Apparently first record for Somalia of this widespread species, although Hildebrandt 1488 was collected already in 1875. Wieland 4713, a poor specimen from C1, 100 m, may also belong here. In the white powdery lower surface of the leaf-blades C. farinosa resembles Negripteris scioana, but differs by its pale brown sporangia (in N. scioana dark brown or black), and petiole with few scales near the base only (not scaly throughout).
