Notes
Gardner 1263 in CM 13155 from Kenya, SE Aberdares has a pencilled determination ‘ catoptera ’ by ? Schelpe but the segments are up to 4.5 cm long, 5 mm wide; specimens with long segments occur in Ethiopia and South Africa. Two East African sheets bear names I have not found validly published. Alluaud 106 from W Mt. Kenya at 2400 m is labelled P. quadriaurita var. setigera Copeland by Bonaparte who mentions the name in Ptérid. 16: 101 (1925) but there attributes the variety to Hooker. Daubenberger in Rosenstock 55b from Kilimanjaro, 2000 m is labelled P. quadriaurita f. tenuis Rosenstock.
