Information
Terrestrial or epiphytic herb, erect when terrestrial, 10–30(–60) cm high, otherwise perhaps pendulous; rhizome 1.5 mm diameter; aerial stems 3-angular, 1–2 mm wide, glabrous, dichotomously branched. Scale-leaves widely spaced, lanceolate, 1.5 mm long. Sporangia yellowish or brownish, 2–2.5 mm diameter, 3-locular, the subtending bifurcate bract 1.3 mm long. Fig. 1.

Notes
Lawalrée points out that specimens from the Congo coast and Forestier Central region are different from those occurring on the Rumoka lavas and that there are diploid and tetraploid races hinting at infraspecific taxa at some rank. Schelpe (1970) provides full synonymy.
