Information
Bushy perennial herb, woody at the base, 30–100 cm tall, with many simple or branched stems from the base. Stem and branches very densely lanuginose with upwardly-directed yellowish-white hairs, terete. Leaves roundish, obtuse to retuse at the apex, cordate at the base (the larger ones deeply so), opposite, c. 10–40 x 8–33 mm, very densely lanuginose with the hairs on the upper surface more appressed and ± sericeous, veins prominent below; petiole c. 3–7 mm. Inflorescence a large open panicle, the ultimate spikes with a very fine and almost capillary but not zigzag axis, branches thinly patent-pilose below, glabrous above, brownish. Tepals green: outer 2 c. 3.75–4 x 1.5–1.75 mm, cucullate, glabrous, the 3 strong nerves meeting at the apex; inner 2 slightly shorter, with a strong central nerve and 2 fine laterals, with a broadly hyaline margin at least as wide as the green centre, the margin slightly constricted below the apex; middle tepal with one side as for the outer, the other as for the inner tepals. No pseudostaminodes, filaments widened below. Style slender, 1 mm.
