Information
Much-branched bushy perennial, somewhat woody at the base, 40–90 cm, young twigs densely white- or yellowish-tomentose, the older cortex glabrescent, brownish. Main stem and branch leaves very broadly obovate to roundish, 1–3 x 0.8–2 cm, opposite, obtuse, densely velvety-tomentose with the nervation well-marked on the lower surface; petiole up to 1 cm; upper leaves rapidly reducing but remaining broad. Inflorescence a large, open panicle of opposite, axillary, simple or usually branched spikes each with a zigzag, often fine and capillary, thinly pilose axis. Flowers sessile. Tepals green: outer 2 narrowly lanceolate, 3.5–4 mm, 3-nerved, all the nerves with finally widely spreading, long, silky hairs, hyaline margins narrow; inner 2 broadly elliptic with very wide, hyaline margins, 3-nerved with usually only the midrib ± long-pilose; middle tepal with one broad and one narrow hyaline margin, 3-nerved with the midrib and lateral nerve on the narrow side long-pilose. No pseudostaminodes, filaments flat and broadly expanded below the anthers. Style 1.25–1.4 mm, slender. Capsule ovoid, 2–2.5 mm.
