Information
Shrub about 1 m. across; stems at first shortly bristly pubescent, soon glabrous, pale and somewhat corky, rather thickened and leafless at the nodes beneath. Leaf-blades lanceolate, 2–4 cm. long, 0.6–1.3 cm. wide, acute to acuminate at the apex, cuneate at the base, the margins slightly revolute, glabrous or pubescent at margins beneath; petiole up to 4 mm. long, often margined with bristly hairs; stipules with sheath ± 1 mm. long, lobe 3–5 mm. long, 2–2.5 mm. wide at base, glabrous or pubescent, the rhaphides often very obvious on the surface. Inflorescences up to 5–6 cm. across; pedicels up to 3 mm. long, pubescent. Calyx-tube 0.8 mm. long, ± pubescent; lobes 1.7–2.3 mm. long, 0.75–1 mm. wide, glabrous. Corolla white or pinkish; tube 1.4 mm. long; lobes 3.2 mm. long, 1.2 mm. wide, minutely apiculate. Filaments 4 mm. long. Style 6 mm. long; stigma 0.2 mm. long. Capsule 1.8 mm. long, 2 mm. wide. Seeds few, black, discoid, 0.65 mm. in diameter, 0.2 mm. thick, convex dorsally, flattened ventrally. Fig. 34.
