Information
A shrub. Branches white-pilose when young, glabrescent. Leaves broadly ovate, 5 1/2 in. long, 2 3/4 in. wide, obtuse, cuneate and almost petioled at the base, pilose when young, coriaceous, light green; secondary nerves ascending, prominent on both surfaces; marginal veins thick. Heads terminal, globose, 4 1/2 in. in diam.; bracts adpressed-silky outside, outer broadly ovate, inner oblanceolate, obtuse, 2 in. long, 5 lin. wide. Perianth 1 3/4 in. long, densely shaggy, and with a tuft of hairs 4 lin. long at the base; upper lip boat-shaped, lower narrow. Anthers linear, 3 1/2 lin. long; connective subulate above. Style a little longer than the perianth; stigma small.
