Tree or shrub, armed with stipular spines 0.5–2.5(–5) cm long; leaves with 1–2(–4) pairs of pinnae; leaflets 6–29 pairs, 6–23 x 1.5–5.5 mm, glabrous; flowers yellowish in spiciform racemes, 5–10(–15) cm long; pod pale brown, linear, straight or slightly curved, 8–29 x 0.8–1.7 cm, compressed, with a sugary-pulpy mesocarp.
Range
Introduced and sometimes naturalised near waterholes, along wadis and at roadsides at low altitude at least in N1, N3, C1, 2 and S2, and has become a pest in some areas native of America.

Notes
Lebi (Som.). Now widely cultivated in the tropics for shade, timber and forage, although often invasive; pods are edible and can be ground into flour and used to make a flat bread.
