Information
Shrub 10–60 cm high, intricately branched; ultimate branches almost spiny when leafless. Leaves fleshy, elliptic in outline, 3–6.5´1.4–4 cm, pinnately lobed with triangular lobes. Capitula few to several; involucre 6–8 mm long with 8 inner phyllaries; phyllaries purplish, lanceolate. Florets blue to pale pink, bisexual,±9 mm long. Achenes cylindrical, ribbed, to 2.2 mm long; pappus cream, of bristles 4–7 mm long, marginal bristles less than 0.5 mm.
