Notes
P. chasei is closely related to P. discolor Diels (S. Tanganyika) and P. ferruginea (Oliv.) Engl. & Diels (Angola, Belgian Congo and Uganda), but differs in indumentum characters and in the frequently cymose inflorescence. It is further distinguished from P. discolor by the glabrous ovaries and larger flowers with more numerous stamens and carpels, and from P. ferruginea by the flower colour and the markedly unequal petals.
