Information
Small epiphytic herb to c. 12 cm high, forming clumps.Pseudobulbs 1–2 × 0.5–1 cm, ovoid to ovoid-conical, 2–3-leaved.Leaves 5–10.5 × 0.7–2 cm, oblong to oblanceolate, dark green, sometimes purple-edged.Inflorescence (floral axis) erect, longer than the leaves, 2–6-flowered.Peduncle 3–5 cm long; pedicel and ovary 5 mm long; bracts 5–7 × 4–5 mm, ovate, mucronate; all pubescent.Flowers sometimes strongly scented, variable in size and colour; the measurements given are for plants from the Flora Zambesiaca area.Sepals and petals green or yellow-green, lip white with purple veins on the side lobes.Dorsal sepal 11–12 × 5 mm, ovate, acute; lateral sepals 11–12 × 7–8 mm, obliquely triangular, acute; mentum c. 9 mm high.Petals c. 9 × 2 mm, oblanceolate.Lip strongly recurved, fleshy and hard to flatten, 9–10 × 7 mm, 3-lobed at about the middle, with a conical callus at the junction of the lobes; mid-lobe 4–5 × 3–5 mm, ovate, glabrous; side lobes erect, rounded; disk densely clavate pubescent.Column short and stout, c. 3 mm long.
