Notes
Weatherby gives the lectotype as from Jamaica, Herb. Plukenet (BM!) but Linnaeus did not see this specimen so I have cited the Plukenet drawing. The other American authors cited follow Weatherby; the Plukenet material is of course in Herb. Sloane. Schelpe gives the ‘holotype’ as Herb. Sloane 130 folio 29 but Dandy (Sloane Herb.: 44 (1958), gives only 19 folios for this lot and folio 19 as an unidentified fern. An inspection of this volume of Sloane which consists of several lots bound together shows that this typotype is Sloane 129/folio 29 which is part of Buddle’s fern collection. The specimen has been annotated by J. L. Reveal.
