Information
Annual herb, (15–)20–40 cm tall. Stems simple or a little branched, slender, wiry, glabrous. Leaves alternate, scarcely developed and sometimes a little broader near the base of the stem, subsessile, linear to lorate, 5–8≈0.2–1 mm, acute, base cuneate, glabrous. Flowers pale greenish-yellow or whitish, in dense terminal racemes 2.5–15(–20) cm long; rachis glabrous; bracts linear, 1–1.5 mm long, glabrous, caducous; bracteoles linear, 0.7–0.8 mm long, glabrous, caducous; pedicels 0.5–1 mm, glabrous. Posterior sepal linear, 1.5–1.8≈1 mm, glabrous; wing sepals obovate-elliptic to broadly elliptic, 2–2.5≈1.5–1.8 mm, glabrous; anterior sepals linear, 1–1.3≈0.3–0.5 mm, glabrous, free. Upper petals broadly elliptic, 1.5–1.8 mm long; carina 1.5 mm long, 0.7–0.8 mm high; crest 0.5–0.7 mm long, 3–4-fimbriate. Stamens 8. Capsule stipitate, suborbicular in outline, 1 mm diameter, unwinged, glabrous. Seeds ellipsoid, 0.5–0.8≈0.4–0.5 mm, with brownish, rarely whitish hairs; caruncle absent. Fig. 4: 2, p. 10.
