Information
Prostrate shrublet of greyish appearance with densely pubescent branchlets. Leaves oblanceolate or spathulate, normally 5–25 x 1–6 mm. (extremely diminutive leaves are occasionally found). Flowers blue, pedicels 2–2.5 mm. long, in terminal racemes up to 15 cm. long with pubescent rhachis, caducous bracts 2 mm. long and bracteoles 1 mm. long. Posterior sepal 2.5–3 mm. long; wing sepals 6–8 x 4 mm., glabrous; anterior sepals 2–2.5 mm. long, connate. Upper petals 4.5 x 3 mm., spathulate or obovate; carina 8 x 4 mm., crest 1.5–2 mm. long. Stamens 8. Capsule oblong, oblique, 7 x 3.5–4 mm., glabrous, apical lobes pointed, marginal wing very narrow except at the apex. Seeds 5 x 1.5 mm., cylindric, with a dense indumentum of long, white, silky hairs; caruncle well-developed but appendages minute.
Habitat
In clearings in secondary bush on white sand and in sandveld in the Transvaal.

Notes
Burtt Davy probably intended to call this P. rogersii but on discovering the existence of P. rogersiana Bak. f. he altered the name accompanying the latin diagnosis on p. 48 (loc. cit.) but forgot to make the alterations in the general text. It is preferable in every respect to choose the name P. marensis.
