Information
Perennial 10–30 cm. tall with a woody rootstock; stems glabrous or nearly so, slightly winged. Leaves 10–25 x 1.5–4 mm., linear-lanceolate or linear-elliptic, sometimes suborbicular towards the base of the stem, glabrous, usually rounded at the apex, but sometimes acute, mucronate. Flowers blue or greenish-blue, pedicels 1.5–2.5 mm. long, in terminal or lateral racemes usually 3–7 cm. long, occasionally longer, with glabrous rhachis, small caducous bracts 1 mm. long and bracteoles 0.5 mm. long. Posterior sepal 3 mm. long; wing sepals 6–8 x 3–4 mm., elliptic, glabrous; anterior sepals connate, 2 mm. long. Upper petals comparatively large, 6 x 5 mm., obovate, unguiculate; carina 7 x 2.5 mm., crest 1.5 long. Capsule 7.5 x 4.5 mm., oblong-elliptic, marginal wing very narrow. Seeds 5 x 2 mm., elliptic, with very dense, white, silky indumentum; caruncle well developed but appendages minute.
