Information
Caespitose annual; culms up to 35 cm tall, erect or geniculately ascending, branched from the lower nodes; leaf laminas (1.5)3–15(20) cm × 1.5–2.5 mm, flat or somewhat involute, tapering to a fine point.Inflorescence 4–12 cm long (or more); racemes 0.8–1.5 cm long, spreading or more often ± reclined.Spikelets 4–6 mm long, 3–5-flowered, narrowly elliptic; rhachilla internodes thickened, shortly clavate (except the uppermost), stiffly pilose towards the apex, rarely glabrous; glumes ovate-lanceolate or triangular-lanceolate, the inferior 1.5–1.7 mm long, the superior 2.1–2.4 mm long; lemmas c. 2.8 mm long, ovate-lanceolate to ovate-triangular, acute.

On Kalahari Sands, usually in woodland, and in disturbed ground
