Information
Much-branched annual (?) herb 20–30 cm (or more) in height; stem and branches densely furnished with short, divergent, several-celled hairs. Leaves linear, 1–5 x 0.1–0.3 cm, acute, attenuate below into a short petiole, strongly and irregularly undulate-sinuate, glabrous to moderately furnished with multicellular hairs on the upper surface, more densely so beneath especially on the primary venation. Flowers greenish, in slender spikes up to 18 cm long including the peduncle, inflorescence pilose ± throughout or becoming glabrous above. Outer tepals of fertile flowers 2–2.25 mm, oblong-ovate with a midrib and 2 pairs of lateral nerves, rather firm; inner tepals shorter, subrotund to broadly oblong-elliptic, blunt, erose-denticulate, 1-nerved. Lateral flowers rapidly accrescent in fruit to form a broad, membranous, dark-veined wing to c. 9 mm broad. Mature fruit not seen.
