Information
Bracts 3–7(9) × (1)2.5–6(7) mm, obovate to oblate, rarely lanceolate, acuminate. Pedicels 2–4(6) mm long. Calyx (1.2)1.4–1.8(2.2) cm long.

Notes
Subsp. grandifolia, with narrower bracts, shorter pedicels and mostly smaller flowers, occurs further south in South Africa in the Free State and KwaZulu-Natal. Specimens from the Chimanimani Mts., including Goodier 481 cited above, have unusually narrow bracteoles for the subspecies, but agree in other respects.
