Information
half-herbaceous, diffuse much branched, densely and softly tomentose; leaves on long petioles deeply hastato-cordate at base, 5â7-lobed, the lobes broad and shallow obtuse, mucronulate, crenate, velvetty on both sides; stipules cordate cuspidate; inflorescence laxly panicled, the partial peduncles long, vil lous, many-flowered; pedicels many times longer than the calyx-tube; flowers small, the 3 lower petals longer than the sepals. The soft, velvetty foliage is handsome, but the flowers are insignificant and white. The stems are several feet long, and spread widely. Leaves 2â3 inches long and broad.

Notes
Cultivated since 1790, chiefly for its scent, which resembles that of peppermint.
