Information
leaves on rigidly ciliate petioles, ovate, obtuse, coriaceous, glabrous or nearly so, entire; stipules adnate, lin.-subulate, ciliate; scapes branched, pluri-flowered, with subulate, setulose bracts; calyx sub-sessile, the glandularly pubescent tube not twice as long as the lanceolate, strigulose segments; petals obovate. Known from all forms of P. longifolium by the stiff, appressed, short bristles on the calyx-lobes. The flowers are pale purple.
Distribution
SOUTH AFRICA Between Eikenboom and Riebekskasteel, Cape, Drege! Tigerberg, Witsenberg and near Constantia, E. & Z.! (Herb. T.C.D., Hook., Sond.).
Notes
Our specimens are in very bad order, and the description may need to be corrected. Can this be the P. ciliatum, Cav. Diss. t. 118. f. 2, (P. parnassioides, L'Her.) which is said to be different from the plant of L'Heretier.
