Information
Stems prostrate, c. 15–50 cm long, from a strong taproot or branched rootstock, somewhat flexuous, pubescent to tomentose with a mixture of short often crisped and long fine spreading hairs. Leaflets 3.5–7 × (1.5)2–3.5 cm, elliptic to obovate, apiculate, pilose to tomentose, with conspicuous lateral nerves (the lower ones steeply ascending); petiole 0.3–1.5(2.5) cm long; stipules 0.5–1 × 0.2–0.9 cm, usually broadly ovate-acuminate, less often lanceolate or obovate-circular. Flowers white or cream with a purple centre, (8)16–30 in subdense to lax pedunculate racemes 5–15(25) cm long; bract and bracteoles similar, at the top of the pedicel, linear-lanceolate to oblate. Calyx 1–1.8(2.2) cm long, densely hairy; upper lip c. 2–3 times as long as the tube, with the lateral sinuses as high as or higher than the upper sinus; upper lobes (3)5–7(9) mm long, narrowly to broadly triangular-lanceolate, acuminate. Standard 1.6–2.2 cm long, elliptic or oblong-elliptic, pubescent outside. Stamens all joined. Ovary 14–30-ovulate. Pod shortly exserted from the calyx, up to 17 × 3.5 mm, oblong-pointed, rather densely hairy. Seeds not seen.
