Information
Evergreen shrub or tree, 2–6(–14) m tall; twigs glabrous with grey or reddish smooth bark or somewhat pubescent, sometimes flaking. Leaf-blades leathery, lanceolate to elliptic or obovate, (2.5–)5–12.5(–16.7) x (0.4–)2–5.5(–7.3) cm, yellowish green or blackish when dry, obtuse to acute or acuminate at apex; petiole (3–)5–20(–27) mm long, glabrous; stipules (2.5–)3.5–7(–9) mm long, ovate, glabrous within, soon falling. Inflorescences sessile, terminal, dense to moderately lax, up to 6.5 cm across (excl. corollas); first order branches (2.5–)6–14(–17) mm long; pedicels 0–3(–5) mm long. Calyx puberulous to pubescent; limb-tube up to 1.5 mm long; lobes up to 1.5 mm long. Corolla whitish to yellowish, glabrous outside, pubescent at throat; tube (2–)3–4(–6) mm long; lobes 4–6 mm long. Fruit black when ripe, (3.5–)4.5–6.5 mm in diam., with persistent calyx-limb, 1(–2)-seeded; seed spherical or somewhat flattened, endosperm virtually entire.
