quite glabrous; twigs terete; leaves lanceolate acute, tapering in a longish petiole, flat, coriaceous, shining, penninerved, and reticulate; panicle corymbose, much shorter than the leaves; limb of calyx cupshaped, repando-dentate. A shrub, 4–5 feet. Leaves 6–7 inches long, 1 1/4–1 1/2 inch broad. Petiole 1 inch long. Stipules very broad, aristate. Panicle 1 1/2–2 inches long, with minute bracts. Calyx 1 1/2 line long, repand, without teeth. Corolla white, tube 6 lines, limb 2 lines long. Exserted part of the style as long as the corolla.
