Information
Tree to 30 m high, with a spreading crown; young branchlets glabrous to puberulous. Leaves: pinnae 4–11 pairs; leaflets 11–17(–28) pairs, oblong, 12–32 x 5–12 mm, rounded at the apex, puberulous on margins near base, otherwise glabrous; petiole on upper side with 2 narrow glands. Heads pendent on peduncles 9–35 cm long, club-shaped, up to 8.8 x 7.5 cm, reddish, with a strong smell. Bisexual flowers with calyx 10–13 mm long; petals with free part c. 10 mm long, puberulous at apex. Pods 30–60 x 1.5–2.8(–3.5) cm, glabrous or almost so, sometimes somewhat constricted between the seeds.
Range
S3 Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and southwards to Zambia and Angola.
