Ephemeral; culms 9–10 cm. high, erect, delicate. Leaf laminae 0.5–1.5 cm. long and 1–3 mm. wide, lanceolate, thin, acute. Panicle 0.5–1 cm. long, reduced to 2–3 spikelets on short slender pedicels. Spikelets 2 mm. long, oblong, sparsely pilose; inferior glume 1/2 the length of the spikelet, a narrow, 1-nerved scale; superior glume 7-nerved; inferior lemma 5-nerved, its palea well developed, male; superior lemma and palea pallid, glossy.
