Information
Shrub or shrubby herb up to 4 m tall; young stems pubescent with usually ± brownish hairs. Leaf-blades ovate-lanceolate 3.5–15 x 1.7–6.5 cm, acute or acuminate at the apex, sparsely hairy with short hairs above, ± densely pubescent beneath with short white hairs; petiole up to 2 cm long; stipules with 4–15 mm long fimbriae. Flowers heterostylous, in many-flowered terminal and axillary inflorescences; peduncles up to 4 cm long. Calyx-lobes very unequal, 1–3 leaf-like, 5–18 x 1–4 mm. Corolla red; tube 7–20 mm long, glabrous to hairy outside; lobes 3–10 mm long. Capsules oblong to obovoid, 3–6 mm long, with only slightly raised beak, finally splitting into 2 parts.
