Information
Stems 15–30 cm. long, often forming carpets and rooting at the nodes, the flowering shoots ± erect or ascending for 5–10 cm., rather sparsely to densely adpressed pubescent. Leaf-blades ovate or elliptic-ovate, 0.6–4.5 cm. long, 0.3–2.4 cm. wide, rather bluntly acute, cuneate to rounded or rounded and then attenuately cuneate at the base, with scattered curly hairs above and on margins but mostly confined to the venation beneath; petiole 0.3–2 cm. long, pubescent; stipule-sheath 1–1.5 mm. long, divided into 3–5 filiform fimbriae 1–2(–3.8) mm. long, with scarcely evident colleters. Pedicels very short, attaining 2 mm. in fruit, pubescent. Calyx-tube subglobose, ± 1 mm. long and wide, hairy; lobes ± foliaceous, unequal or subequal, oblong to narrowly spathulate, (2–)3–6 mm. long, (0.4–)1–2.2 mm. wide, with scattered hairs as on the leaves. Corolla white, pale blue or lilac, sometimes with a darker median stripe on the lobes; tube 1.4–2.3 cm. long, 1–2.2 mm. wide, very sparsely hairy outside, densely hairy within the throat; lobes oblong-elliptic, 5–8 mm. long, 1.6–4.5 mm. wide, glabrous inside. Style exserted 2–5 mm. in long-styled flowers, 1.4 cm. long in short-styled flowers, glabrous; stigma-lobes filiform 1–2.5 mm. long. Capsule brown, oblong-ovoid, 3–4 mm. long, 2.5–3 mm. wide, only slightly beaked.

Notes
Bremekamp had proposed to describe Bally 8768 as a new species of Chamaepentas before he had his attention drawn to the fact that it was conspecific with the above. He considered that the lack of bracteoles and hairy corolla throat should exclude it from Parapentas. The habit is however that of Parapentas, the capsule is scarcely if at all rostrate, the calyx-lobes are not so characteristically spathulate as in Chamaepentas where they are actually more or less stipitate and, more important perhaps, the style lacks the dense tomentellous indumentum which is characteristic of Chamaepentas and some sections of Pentas.
