OXALIS stictophylla Sond. [family OXALIDACEAE]
Information
stemless; bulb ovate, small, black; pe-tioles compressed and keeled, leaflets pubescent or glabrous on both sides, dotted with minute black or orange dots and striæ, the lateral smaller, oblique at base; scape equalling the leaves, bibracteolate in the middle; sepals ovato-lanceolate, rather obtuse, ciliolate, 5 times shorter than the corolla; claws of the petals equalling the lamina. Bulb blackish. Petioles 1/2– 3/4 inch long, in β. 2–3 inches. Leaflets 3–4 lines long and wide, very rarely sub-retuse; in β. 7–10 lines long, 5–8 lines wide, the medial remarkably cuneate. Sepals with orange striæ. Corolla 9–10 lines, in β inch long, yellow, the limb dotted with purple along the margin on the outside. Var. β. re. sembles O. variabilis, from which it is easily known by its yellow flowers.
