A shrub 6 ft. high, with thick branchlets. Leaves shortly and broadly petioled, oblong, 1 1/2 in. long, above 1/2 in. broad, very rigid, very acute, turning brown when dried except the white midrib. Peduncles axillary, nearly 1/2 in. long; male many-flowered; bracts linear as long as the subglobose buds. Perianth-lobes broadly ovate, under 1 lin. long.
