Information
Perennial, from a creeping rhizome; culms 80–180 cm. high. Leaf-blades narrowly oblong-lanceolate, 12–25 cm. long and 2–5 cm. wide, abruptly contracted to a false petiole 5–17 mm. long, acuminate, glabrous or minutely pubescent, the veins transversely connected; ligule scarious, 0.3 mm. long, ciliolate. Panicle ovate to broadly ovate, 25–35 cm. long, open, the branches verticillate and obliquely spreading. Spikelets narrowly oblong, 3–5-flowered, 8–12 mm. long; glumes 3.5–5 mm. long, 3–5-nerved, resembling the lemmas; lemmas obliquely lanceolate in side view, elliptic when flattened, 4.5–5.5 mm. long, obtuse; palea narrowly oblong; stamens 3.
