OROPETIUM thomaeum (L.f.) Trin. [family POACEAE], (1820).
Information
Dwarf, densely tufted perennial up to 7 cm high. Raceme straight or curved, 1–4 cm long; rhachis tough, always tightly wavy and somewhat spongy. Spikelets in opposite ranks, deeply embedded; upper glume acute, 1.8–2.5 mm long; lemma 0.7–1 mm long, obscurely mucronulate.
Range
S1 Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania to Pakistan, India, Burma and Sri Lanka.
Altitude range
c. 200 m.
