bulb globose, 2 in. diam.; leaves about 8, lingulate, obtuse, firmer in texture than in E. punctata and E. undulata, suffused with purple on the back towards the base, not undulated, finally 1 1/2–2 ft. long, 3–4 in. broad above the middle, narrowed gradually from the middle to the base; peduncle short, clavate, an inch thick at the top, spotted with purple; raceme dense, oblong, 3–4 in. long, 2–2 1/2 in. diam.; pedicels scarcely any; leaves of the coma 12–20, oblong, acute; perianth green, 1/2 in. long; segments oblong; filaments 1/4 in. long, lanceolate in the lower half. null
