plant 1/2–1 ft. high; stem rather slender; leaves 8–12, suberect or somewhat arching, narrowly linear, slightly broader in the upper half, acute or acuminate, 3–5 in. long; scapes 1/2–1 ft. high, with 2–4 lanceolate acuminate sheaths; spikes 1–5-flowered; bracts lanceolate, aristate-acuminate; pedicels 3/4–1 in. long; flowers large, pink or purple; dorsal sepal galeate, broadly ovate, acute, 6–8 lin. long; spur broadly conical, with oblong obtuse apex, about 3 lin. long; lateral sepals ovate, with shortly falcate obtuse apex, 4–5 lin. long; petals falcate, about 4 lin. long, obliquely dilated at the base in front, constricted in the middle, dilated and unequally 2-lobed at the apex; lip long-unguiculate; claw 1/2–1 1/4 in. long; limb broadly cordate, crenulate, often more or less 3-lobed above, 4–5 lin. broad, front lobe acute, side lobes varying from rounded to acute; column broad, 1 1/2–2 lin. long; anther reflexed; rostellum 3-lobed, with acute teeth, the lateral pair longer and complicate; stigma pulvinate. null
