Information
Young branchlets subangular, dark, glabrous, adult ones stout, nodose, pallid, densely lenticellate. Leaves opposite, subopposite or alternate, elliptic-oblong or lanceolate-oblong, obtuse at the apex, cuneate into the base, 1 1/2–2 in. long, 6–10 lin. broad, thinly coriaceous, glabrous; lateral nerves 2–3 on each side, very oblique, slightly raised on both surfaces, the lowermost short, the next running beyond the middle of the leaf; petiole 1–1 1/2 lin. long. Umbels 1–3 together in the axils of the fallen leaves, 3–7-flowered; peduncle 1 lin. long; pedicels 3/4–1 lin. long; bract inserted very obliquely on the pedicel, cupular, with a rounded dorsal lobe, dorsal margin 5/8 lin. long, umbonate, umbo acutely horned above, horn 1/4 lin. long, ventral margin 3/8 lin. long. Receptacle and calyx together elongate-cupular, 1 1/8 lin. long. Calyx ascending, irregularly lobed, minutely ciliolate, 1/2 lin. long or rather less. Corolla 7 lin. long in bud; tube flask-shaped, not split unilaterally, 1 1/4 lin. long; lobes 5 3/4 lin. long, linear below, linear-oblanceolate above, broadened into the base, reflexed below the middle. Filaments inserted about the base of the corolla-lobes, about 4 lin. long, straight below, much thickened and involute above, tooth 1/8 lin. long; anthers linear, 1 1/8 lin. long. Disc slightly lobed, 1/8 lin. high. Stigma depressed-globose, 1/4 lin. in diam.
