Notes
As more material becomes available it seems increasingly likely that O. bussei is no more than a local variant of O. hildebrandtii. It is distinctly less hairy, but there do not seem to be any other significant differences apparent from dried specimens. The specimens from northern Mozambique have been provisionally attributed to O. hildebrandtii, but should not be excluded from a re-evaluation of O. bussei. Peter (1932) cites Holtz 639 from Lindi, Ras Rangone, as O. hildebrandtii, but this specimen may well be from Ras Rongoni point in Uzaramo District or misidentified. Peter also mentions the apparently unpublished name Loranthus hildebrandtii var. glabrescens Engl. under O. bussei, also based on Busse 2949 (B),and this name might be taken up.
