Information
Mostly decumbent perennial herbs; flowers larger, heterostylous, the anthers long exserted in brachystylous form, the corolla-tube (3.5–)7–9 mm. long; ovary and capsule glabrous.

Notes
Extremes of this variant are very distinctive and it is difficult to believe that it is not specifically distinct from O. herbacea, but there is considerable variation in the length of the corolla-tube. Some specimens with the corolla-tube only 2 mm. long are heterostylous, e.g. Lewis 5931 (Kenya, Teita Hills, SE. slope of Mt. Vuria, 13 Sept. 1962).
