Information
Rhizome shortly creeping, 2–3 mm in diameter with very narrow chestnut brown scales only 1–2 cells wide, save at extreme base where 3-celled. Fronds close or tufted; stipe straw-coloured, 10–40 cm long; lamina thin, narrowly oblong, 0.3–1.5 m long, 8–50 cm wide, 2–4-pinnate and pinnatifid; primary pinnae in about 10–20 pairs, the longest up to 40 cm long, 12 cm wide, with petiolules up to 2 cm long; ultimate pinnules almost linear, up to 4 mm long, 0.75–1.25 mm wide, slightly divaricate, not dilated at the apex, uninerved, each with only 1 sorus; rachis straw-coloured. Indusium pocket-like, attached by the side, 0.3–0.5 mm long and wide. Spores trilete. Fig. 9.

Notes
Kramer has identified some São Tomé material as a probably undescribed species; he also makes the perennial error of referring Stolz’s specimen to Malawi where he never collected. The other São Tomé taxon is O. chinensis var. divaricatum H. Christ in Chevalier in Journ. de Bot., sér. 2, 2: 23 (1909). Type: São Tomé, towards the Pic, after Lagua Amelia, Chevalier 14309 (P, syn.).
