Information
Large shrub up to 4.5 m high; bark whitish; branches reddish-brown at first, then becoming greyish-white, with numerous lenticels. Leaves subsessile; blade 3.2–8.3 x 1.3–3.2 cm, elliptic or obovate-elliptic, acute and distinctly mucronate at the apex, cordate at the base, leathery, margins spinulose-serrate, with up to 6 mm long gland-tipped bristles near the base, tertiary venation densely reticulate. Flowers single or in few-flowered racemes; pedicels 1.2–2.8 cm in fruit, articulated near the base. Sepals 8–11 mm at flowering, elliptic, rounded, enlarging to 13–14 mm in fruit. Petals yellow, 12–15 x 7–11 mm, obovate or subcircular. Stamens with anthers 2–3 mm long, c. half as long as the filaments, dehiscing by apical pores. Carpels 6–10, with styles united almost to apex. Drupelets 6–8 x 4–6 mm.
