Information
Perennial or occasionally annual, often purplish, especially on the undersides of the leaves; stems 1–3 mm wide. Leaves circular, up to 12 cm in diam., with a wide sinus; petiole 5–10(–30) mm long. Flowers in clusters of usually 10–20; pedicels (20–)40–70 mm long. Calyx 4–7 mm long, the sepals spreading at anthesis but later closing around the capsule. Corolla 12–15 mm across, yellow; tube c. 3–3.5 mm long; lobes c. 6–7 mm long, fimbriate along margins and midvein, hairy in the throat. Stamens inserted near the sinuses of the corolla; filaments 1.5–1.7 mm long in short-styled flowers, c. 0.5 mm long in long-styled flowers; anthers 1.1–1.5 mm long. Ovary ovoid; stigma 2-lobed, membranous, fringed along the margins. Capsule usually±as long as the calyx. Seeds up to c. 12, smooth to minutely spiny.

First record for Somalia. The only collection seen was made 4 km N of Goba on road from Kisimayo (0°42´S, 41°42´E).
