Anunderstoreyforesttree, to 80 ft. high with spreading crown whose branches become more or less erect and bear at their tops whorls of large leaves; fruits yellow when ripe, plum-like, ovoid-ellipsoid, 4·5 cm. long and 3 cm. broad in Cameroons, but only 2 cm. long and 1·5 cm. broad in Gambari Group F.R., western Nigeria
