Notes
The rhizomes and tubers are edible.I have not altered the status of N. undulata which has been accepted by all writers on African ferns for the last 50 years. It would not be wise to do so until the complex has been studied throughout the world. It appears from determination labels that Miyamoto, after a detailed study, had decided to make it a variety of “ N. auriculata ” but the work has not been published. In the past it was not usually separated from N. cordifolia but varietal rank was given to it by Kuhn and Christensen. The majority of specimens is easily separable.
