Information
Rhizome erect. Fronds tufted, suberect to arching, up to 2.8 m tall; stipe pale brown, up to 22(–70) cm long, with narrowly lanceolate pale brown scales up to 2 mm long when young, becoming subglabrous with age; lamina up to 60 cm long, 24 cm wide, pinnate, narrowly elliptic in outline, acute with lower pinnae only slightly reduced; pinnae shortly petiolate, up to 36 pairs, narrow, linear-oblong, 2.5–25 cm long, 0.6–3 cm wide, attenuate, crenate with broadly cuneate or truncate base, thinly pilose with minute white hairs on both surfaces when young, becoming glabrous with age; submarginal hydathodes present but not conspicuous; rhachis pale brown, thinly pilose with minute white hairs and with scattered very narrowly lanceolate pale brown scales. Sori circular, ± 1 mm in diameter, discrete, ± 4 mm apart in a line 2/3 the distance from the costa to the margin on either side of the costa, opening outwards at right angles to the veins; indusium ± 0.6 mm in diameter, membranous, entire.

Notes
Some specimens have been cultivated under the name N. biserrata var. furcans Hort. but I am certainly not clear to which species some of these horticultural monstrosities belong.
