Aquatic herb; stems creeping, usually floating, swollen and rooting at nodes. Leaves sensitive, with 2–4 pairs of pinnae; rhachis including petiole up to 13 cm long; leaflets 7–22 pairs, oblong, 5–20 x 1.5–4 mm, basal ones smaller, glabrous or almost so. Flowers yellow, in long-pedunculate heads 1.5–2.5 cm long. Calyx 1–3 mm long. Corolla 3–4 mm long. Stamens 10; anthers eglandular; staminodes 17–21 mm long. Pod stipitate, shortly oblong, 1.3–2.7(–3.8) x 1–1.2 cm.

?S2, S3 widespread in the tropics.
